Artist's Comments

This is an older stamp I did a while back in a very old program.

There have been a couple of people who've sent me messages about the Wolf's Rain background (dragonicwolf, I'm not talking about you) basically telling me I was an "Overactive RPer" for creating it.

I wanted to clear a few things up and answer some of their accusations:

1. Yes, I am a therian.

2. No, I did not use the Wolf's Rain background because I'm a hopeless anime addict (which I am). I simply thought that in today's day and age it was something people could associate a little better with..... maybe the symbolism would help people to understand more about what Therianthropy is.
Besides that, it was meant for me more than anyone else. I needed some uplifting views on Therianthropy at the time.

Originally this stamp was never supposed to be on DA, and was solely for my personal enjoyment.

Anyways, no more backtalk! Enjoy the stamp =)

Wolfs rain makes people want to be wolves and think they are wolves ._.

Not necessarily. However, what better way is there to express Therianism? I mean, search for Therian Stamp and almost everything you come up with will be a photo of a real wolf or art of one..... normally not something from an anime.

I strive for unique Deviant Arts, and Wolf's Rain was the anime that came to mind when I thought about what background I wanted for this stamp. =)

Yeah, but I dislike the idea of... 'showing off' so to speak or advertising therianthropy in this manner. Maybe it is just me being protective of the overall therian status,or just me being oversensitive.

I just dislike it when people automatically assume, or fake for the attention. being therian does not make you super , superior, or more special than others. But those who are not truthful with themselves often do not see it in this way. I know many people who have watched wolfs rain and liked the thought of being a wolf, found the word therianthropy, and acted it out. Eventually they got bored of the community though.

Some people have simply found others 'showing off' their 'therianthropy', decided it was cool, and gave themselves the label without much thinking.

I feel a little tired now so I do not know what I am saying... but I made a thread on the werelist about therian stamps. If you want I can provide you with the link.

:icondreamingwolf:
You have a few misconceptions about me and/or this stamp.

"Showing off" as you put it... I have to ask, how is creating a stamp with a fictional character representing an actual life fact "Showing off"? Now if my intention was to get attention and "show off" or "advertise" then I would have to agree with you, it wouldn't be right. But that was NOT my intention, therefore I see no reason why there's even a conversation about this.

I agree, it's dishonorable and wrong to fake being a therian. Being a therian doesn't mean your super special, that's true, but it's not about individualizing therianthropy in saying that by creating stamps your advertising either. I'm sorry you've had to encounter people who are Wolf's Rain fanatics that go "over the edge", it seems to have made you a bit skeptical about some things.

Now, a few words about myself and this stamp. First and foremost, I'M a Therian..... not the type that just labeled himself randomly, but rather the type that took 3 years of FIGHTING the habits, visions and signs until he finally accepted the facts.
Secondly, this stamp was not just created for the enjoyment of other people, it was created to help me cope with what I was going through at the time. I was trying to shine a little light on the dark matter surrounding my thoughts about therianthropy..... and why wouldn't I want to share that with the world?

I'm sorry that I seem a little angry, but I don't appreciate it when people accuse me of things >.>

Putting all that aside, I would love to see that link you were talking about.

As for now, I need to get some sleep. I'll probably regret everything I just typed tomorrow, so don't take anything personal. I'm a grouch after long days ;)

its alright, I understand where you are coming from. I myself should not be accusing people of anything. The link to the thread is here

Quite a few things have come up in there. And as additional information I made the thread before I saw this deviation. ^^"

Alrighty, I read through your post and I understand where your coming from. Still, there are a few facets that I feel have been overlooked on this topic.....

First, the internet is a very public place where people can be anonymous. People get a general "masquerade ball" feeling from it, able to meet others from any place and time across the globe in one place.
For Therians like me, the internet was the ONLY place where one could find other therians and have a good conversation. I'm assuming your a therian as well, so you probably know that "sensing" when someone is a real therian or not comes as second nature.... and even the internet cannot block that.

Back on topic. I think that while there are those out there who are prime examples of your accusations (in other words, I totally agree with you on many levels), there are also those who simply want association, to share with other potential therians. This is particularly true for wolf therians who have pack instincts.

So to answer your question about being oversensitive, yes and no. As you mentioned in your post, there are Pros and Cons to creating anything about therians online..... the key is to have an open mind about the subject.

Maybe it would help if you talked to some of the stamp creators on DA? I'll be doing so, you've got me curious now as to why these stamps are popping up, more importantly what the reason behind them are.

Sorry for the long post, I'm a little oversensitive about these things myself.... like I said before, nothing personal, I respect you for looking so deep into this. I'll let you know what I find out.

Alright. Thanks for the replies and concern. I like to read long posts anyway, so no problem on that ^^
