For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.

I strive for unique Deviant Arts, and Wolf's Rain was the anime that came to mind when I thought about what background I wanted for this stamp.

I just dislike it when people automatically assume, or fake for the attention. being therian does not make you super , superior, or more special than others. But those who are not truthful with themselves often do not see it in this way. I know many people who have watched wolfs rain and liked the thought of being a wolf, found the word therianthropy, and acted it out. Eventually they got bored of the community though.
Some people have simply found others 'showing off' their 'therianthropy', decided it was cool, and gave themselves the label without much thinking.
I feel a little tired now so I do not know what I am saying... but I made a thread on the werelist about therian stamps. If you want I can provide you with the link.

"Showing off" as you put it... I have to ask, how is creating a stamp with a fictional character representing an actual life fact "Showing off"? Now if my intention was to get attention and "show off" or "advertise" then I would have to agree with you, it wouldn't be right. But that was NOT my intention, therefore I see no reason why there's even a conversation about this.
I agree, it's dishonorable and wrong to fake being a therian. Being a therian doesn't mean your super special, that's true, but it's not about individualizing therianthropy in saying that by creating stamps your advertising either. I'm sorry you've had to encounter people who are Wolf's Rain fanatics that go "over the edge", it seems to have made you a bit skeptical about some things.
Now, a few words about myself and this stamp. First and foremost, I'M a Therian..... not the type that just labeled himself randomly, but rather the type that took 3 years of FIGHTING the habits, visions and signs until he finally accepted the facts.
Secondly, this stamp was not just created for the enjoyment of other people, it was created to help me cope with what I was going through at the time. I was trying to shine a little light on the dark matter surrounding my thoughts about therianthropy..... and why wouldn't I want to share that with the world?
I'm sorry that I seem a little angry, but I don't appreciate it when people accuse me of things >.>
Putting all that aside, I would love to see that link you were talking about.
As for now, I need to get some sleep. I'll probably regret everything I just typed tomorrow, so don't take anything personal. I'm a grouch after long days

Quite a few things have come up in there. And as additional information I made the thread before I saw this deviation. ^^"

First, the internet is a very public place where people can be anonymous. People get a general "masquerade ball" feeling from it, able to meet others from any place and time across the globe in one place.
For Therians like me, the internet was the ONLY place where one could find other therians and have a good conversation. I'm assuming your a therian as well, so you probably know that "sensing" when someone is a real therian or not comes as second nature.... and even the internet cannot block that.
Back on topic. I think that while there are those out there who are prime examples of your accusations (in other words, I totally agree with you on many levels), there are also those who simply want association, to share with other potential therians. This is particularly true for wolf therians who have pack instincts.
So to answer your question about being oversensitive, yes and no. As you mentioned in your post, there are Pros and Cons to creating anything about therians online..... the key is to have an open mind about the subject.
Maybe it would help if you talked to some of the stamp creators on DA? I'll be doing so, you've got me curious now as to why these stamps are popping up, more importantly what the reason behind them are.
Sorry for the long post, I'm a little oversensitive about these things myself.... like I said before, nothing personal, I respect you for looking so deep into this. I'll let you know what I find out.
